Non-woven fabric is the oldest and simplest textile fabric. They are not knitted or woven. These fabrics are net-like structures or sheets in which filaments or fibers are entangled by chemical, thermal or mechanical means.
These are tufted or flat porous sheets made of different plastic films, molten plastics or fibers. Since they are not woven or knitted, these fabrics do not need to be converted to yarn.
Some oil-based products and recycled fabrics are used to produce non-woven fabrics. Some non-woven fabrics can also be recycled under appropriate facilities and treatments. This is why people think that non-woven fabrics are more environmentally friendly in certain applications.
