Market Highlights
The Global Infrared (IR) Sensor Market size is expected to grow from USD 387.4 Million in 2018 to USD 747 Million by 2025, at a CAGR of 10% during the forecast period. An infrared (IR) sensor is an instrument that is utilized to sense the characteristics of the surrounding; this is done by emitting or detecting the infrared radiation. The IR sensors can measure the heat emitted by an object and use it to detect the motion. There are several applications of the IR image sensors, such as detection by heat, night vision, thermal imaging, body temperature measurement, camera, and others.
Infrared sensors are used for detecting a single spot temperature. An infrared camera contains an optical system that concentrates infrared energy onto a unique sensor chip (usually a sensor array) that consists of many detector pixels organized in a matrix. Every pixel in the sensor cluster responds to the infrared energy concentrated on it and produces an electric signal. The camera processor captures the signal from each pixel and applies a numerical count to it to make a color map of the object temperature. Each temperature is allotted an alternate color grid. The subsequent grid of colors is sent to the memory and the camera shows a temperature picture of that object. The wavelength used for infrared photography ranges from 700 nm to 900 nm.

Regional Analysis
The Global Market for infrared sensor market is estimated to grow at a significant rate during the forecast period from 2019 to 2024. The geographic analysis of the infrared sensor market has been done across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the rest of the world.
Asia-Pacific remains the dominating region throughout the forecast period due to increased demand in healthcare. Infrared is useful in the healthcare sector as this type of rays can penetrate the skin, helping in spotting varicose veins. The growing demand for IR photography in Singapore is also fueling the market growth owing to its use in dentistry apart from its use in screening abdomen, thyroid glands, and breast tumors. On the other hand, China holds the highest percentage of market share from the military with uses of infrared for target acquisition. Apart from that, it is also used in finding illegal drug farms. IR helps in detecting celestial objects that are not easily visible to the human eye.
