Since the founding of the South Ural State Medical University (USMU) the importance of scientific activities in the training of specialists with higher medical education has been determined. A contribution to the history of medical science in the Urals from the 30s of the twentieth century was made by those who worked at the Sverdlovsk State Medical Institute, whose discoveries made it possible to find new diagnostic and therapeutic methods and to identify the causes. For 90 years, the established scientific directions of the Ural State Medical University and the results of the activities of school representatives are used in the educational process and health. The article describes the scientific activity of the Ural State Medical University over the past decade and improving its productivity. Reports on research activities for 2010-2020, materials based on the results of the performance monitoring of the Ural State Medical University, scientific databases "Russian Science Citation Code" (RSCI), Internet Science, Scope. With the development of traditional medical research areas and schools, the University conducts research in scientific medical sites, collaborating with leading scientific, educational and medical institutions. Topical areas specialize in personalized medicine, digital medicine, restorative medicine, as well as the use of cellular technologies and the fight against infectious diseases. In the current decade, the number of publications encoded in international summary databases has quadrupled in Scope, 2 times in the Web of Science, and 2.6 times in RSCI. The total number of citations for articles in the five years (2016-2020) in the scope is 990, the Web of Science - 766. The number of articles included in the list of higher certification authorities under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, on average for several years - 456.
