ITAs for the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) 2022 were distributed through a lottery from October 12 to October 20. 

It is important to remember that the 155,000 candidates who remain interested in sponsoring in 2020 comprise the pool of possible sponsors from which letters of intent were issued in this year's program. 

Additionally, you may be one of the 15,000 applicants that IRCC accepts this year. Below you will find instructions on how to submit your application if you received an ITA for this year's PGP. 

Note: As IRCC emphasizes, only those who have been invited to apply should submit PGP applications. At the moment, PGP applications can only be submitted online. Applications sent without an ITA will be rejected and returned. 

Applications for PGP program 2022: How to submit it? 

The IRCC will provide you with an invitation status web form you need to complete before submitting your application. It is possible that you have not received an email to the email address specified on your interest to sponsor form although this web form confirms receipt of an ITA. Also, for candidates who can't be emailed, IRCC mails physical invitations. You must also meet all IRCC PGP eligibility requirements, including: 

• Age must be over 18 
• First Nations status, Canadian citizenship, or permanent residency 
• For tax years 2021, 2020, and 2019 (if you live elsewhere), you must meet the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) requirement. 
• The province of Quebec specifies the income standards for sponsors that must be met by Quebec residents. 

The purpose of this is to ensure that your application is precise and comprehensive, regardless of whether you are required to do so. PGP 2022 candidates are permitted to engage a lawyer on their behalf. 

Furthermore, IRCC provides guidance on how you can properly complete and submit your application, which can be found in their guidance document. Individuals must submit their applications by 24 December 2022. 

Collect documents 

A document checklist is published by the IRCC in order to help potential applicants avoid overlooking any documents or materials that could be a reason for their application to be rejected. 

The application must be completed 

The given instructions manual should be read in full, and each form's sections should be filled out completely and accurately. Any parts that don't apply to you should be indicated as "N/A" or "Not Applicable". 

Make the payment 

It depends on how many applicants are sponsored by a single application and other factors (dependents of the principal applicant, etc.)

After completing the application review your application to make avoid common mistakes. 

Submit your application 

All questions should be answered and the application should be electronically signed. Include all required supporting documentation together with your ITA letter, processing fee receipt, and ITA letter. 

How will my Parents and Grandparents program 2022 application be handled after I submit it? 

PGP applications take an average of 37 months to process (including the time required to obtain biometric information from applicants). According to the IRCC, the average processing timeframes are shown on its website, but this timeline is flexible. 

Furthermore, your sponsor can receive immediate updates via email and more in-depth status updates once they have created an online account on the IRCC website. 

Without a PGP, can my parents and grandparents come to Canada? 

Yes. 

For parents and grandparents who did not receive an ITA, the Super Visa might be a good option. As well as applicants who are parents or grandparents of Canadian citizens or canada permanent residents (PRs) are eligible to apply for Super Visas for up to five years, although they cannot apply more than once. As soon as they land in Canada, they will be able to extend their stay by up to two years.
