Adventure packs have quickly become a staple of both Minecraft's official content, as well as some of the new additions creations made by the modding community. However, while official content has the benefit of being pre-screened by Mojang for the safety of a player's PC or console, modding can bring in liscensed content, like maps inspired by Nintedo's Super Mario Galaxy.
An avid builder has recreated every level from Super Mario Galaxy in Minecraft, allowing players to experience Nintendo's 2007 space odyssey in a world made completely of blocks. While players may not have Mario's signature spin jump or Super Mario Galaxy's amazing soundtrack, the Minecraft recreation includes a number of stars to collect just like the original title.
Obviously very comfortable when it comes to handling blocks, Chasin_Jason (formerly named Vegan_Potato43) made his own version of the platform game released for the Nintendo Wii in 2007. Thanks to the contribution of Hogwarts007 and 99blockmaking, Chasin_Jason was able to use maps to just tweak and complete the missing parts.
So he built the rest of the galaxies from the original, bringing the total to 86 collectible stars. Now, thanks to this great job, the map contains all the missions except the Prankster Comets and Luigi missions. It was necessary to save a little for later ...
Modders didn't build the huge Nintendo world alone
The package itself not only contains all the worlds of Super Mario Galaxy, but also every regular mission from the game, which can be played for up to three players. Some of the side content, like the Luigi Missions as well as the Prankster Comets, are not currently available in the mod pack, and Chasin_Jasin does not mention any plans to include them in the future. Even without those extras, players can collect a total of 86 stars from the full list of galaxies ported to Minecraft.
It's quite a sight to see that the open sandbox of Minecraft has continued to become a source for fans to create, both within the game and under the hood. Even without mods, the creative possibilities of the game have been able to recreate everything from Lord of the Rings' Minas Tirith to working, redstone-powered computers. However, modding can make new gameplay modes, texture improvements, and bring other games to life within Mojang's title, in addition to the impressive builds that players are already capable of.
