Paper book and e-books are a common way of passing information. E-books are in full known as electronic books and are mainly found in soft copy in numerous formats that exist. Conventional paper books are a form of print media that is found in papers compiled together into a book. The existence of e-books is in most cases parallel to paper books. Authors have over time shared softcopies of their books in websites and this form is mostly referred to as e-books. Other e-books are however available only in this format and not in papers. While paper books are cumbersome to carry around, e-books are termed as weightless hence potable. Information that is found in an e-book is comparatively similar to that in paper books. The nature of e-books heavily depends on the access to the internet or an operating system in a device. In an event that there is no source of electric supply, the reading process is crippled. Paper books, on the other hand, only needs the ability to see. Access to online e-books is also heavily dependent on a power source to power both the device and the internet providing infrastructure. Paper books on the other hand are physically located in shelves, on tables among others and only require physical effort to pick them. Paper books are thence easy to access despite the absence of an electric power source.

Flexibility is high in e-books as opposed to paper books. In as much as e-books have the conventions of a print book there is the use of reflow text in e-books. It is quite evident that e-books have covers, title pages, copyright page, tables of contents, chapters, paragraphs. However, they have a reflow feature that allows them to be viewed in different font size. This makes it easy for people to read as they do not have a fixed font size as in paper books. This feature also allows e-book texts to be extracted and pasted elsewhere to form a new document without necessarily rewriting it. E-books, therefore, allow a reader a wide range of manipulation of the main text to suit the reader's interest. This makes e-books flexible.

The huge contribution of books toward an informed society is evident. Paper books in particular, have always been shipped to various parts of the globe. Technological advancements has seen a decline in shipping activities. E-books have served to increase information accessibility. Both forms of books are important in the society as the audience is of key consideration. Therefore, the medium may be different but the purpose is the same, they all pass information.
