Madden NFL 21 was released on August 28, 2020, for consoles of the current generation, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The new version of the game was released on the 4th of December, 2020, together with the Sony PlayStation 5 and Madden 22 coins Microsoft's Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Madden has released previous Madden games on August 2nd, 2019 (Madden 20) and August 10, 2018, (Madden 19,). The next installment in the Madden series could be released in August 2021.

Gamers could take advantage of an offer called Dual Entitlement with Madden 21. With the promo, customers who bought the game on the current generation consoles could upgrade for without cost to the next-gen edition. The Madden NFL 22 release date is still unknown.

Madden 21 Ultimate Team: Ezekiel Elliott and Shaquil Griffin have been upgraded to their MCS cards.

Just in time for the Madden Bowl, a new batch of Madden 21 Ultimate Team content was released. Four new MCS promotional cards were revealed to Ultimate Team mode on Sunday. These include Ezekiel Elliott and the Dallas Cowboys halfback, and cheap Mut 22 coins Shaquil Griffin (a Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback).
