If you are a carpenter and have children or grandchildren, the idea of making some wooden toys has probably crossed your mind. Toys made of wood are ideal for preschoolers and toddlers because they are lightweight and can be knocked over. In fact, they practically last forever.
Knowing that you made them toys will mean a lot to them when they are older. And there are so many different wooden toy plans to choose from that you could end up with a lot of them. Anything from wooden blocks to moving puppets. The only thing holding you back is your imagination and your skill level.
Wooden toys have been a part of children's lives for centuries and will be for centuries to come. Some favorite wooden toys have been cars, trains, and airplanes. At least for the last century. Learning how to do them is really easy if you have a good set of drawings.
Puzzles made of wood are a popular item, as are rocking horses. I mean the little rocking horse, not the big rocking horse that you can actually ride. Children love to play with miniature versions of real things. This is why cars and airplanes are so popular.
If the child is just a baby, the first wooden toy to make for him is wooden blocks. They are the easiest to make and you can paint them in bright colors. The best thing about wooden blocks is that the child can play with them for two or three years and then learn the colors of the blocks.
Not all wooden toys are made for play. Some are so delicate and beautiful that they just need to be displayed. If you do a little research, you can find some amazing wooden artwork that you would never let a child get near. To do something like this, you would need to have excellent plans and be a top-tier carpenter.
I should mention that some people make wooden toys just so they can sell them. If you come up with a nice idea and go to the local arts and crafts fair, you will find a willing audience for your products. People love things made by hand, especially in this day and age.
So what I'm trying to say is get creative and look around doing research. In my opinion, the quality of the wooden toy blueprints will make a big difference in your success. If it is a complicated toy, you will need good blueprints, pictures with multiple views at different stages, and videos if possible.
