Godzilla is featured heavily in the Godzilla films of the 1990s. After the film was completed there were a lot of special effects done to the creature, making him look even bigger and more powerful. These included swelling and changes in color of the skin of some of him and changes to the tendons and ligaments surrounding his neck. Also, to further help him cope with the climate it was suggested that he acquire the atomic breath ability. He can breathe in and out hydrogen with his mouth and in turn produce a nuclear cloud that could destroy anything or anyone within its path.

The radiation from the nuclear bomb that destroyed Godzilla's city reduced him to a fraction of his original size. He was forced to stay in the volcano for three years to fully recover. He was so big that even the radiation that had destroyed the city could not shrink his size when he returned to life.
