ERW stands for Electric Resistant Welded. AG Universal Ltd. manufactures ERW steel pipes in various dimensions and shapes. We are one of the largest stainless steel pipes exporters from India. ERW pipes are made from steel coil and the weld seam runs parallel to the pipe the width of the coil is same as he circumference of the pipe. So, the diameter of an ERW pipe is limited to 24 inches.

ERW pipe is manufactured by cold forming a flat steel strip into a rounded tube which is posted through a series farming rollers to obtain a longitudinal seam. Then, the two edges are simultaneously heated with a high frequency current and squeezed to form a bond.

The most common standards in ERW pipelines are carbon-steel pipe in ASTM A53 Grade A and B, ASTM A252 pipe, ASTM A500 Structural tubing, ASTM A134, and ASTM 135. Stainless steel ERW pipe standards are ASTM269 stainless pipe, ASTM A270 sanitary tubing, ASTM A312 stainless pipe and ASTM A790 austenitic/duplex stainless pipe. ERW pipe differs from rod and welded pipe and spiral weld pipe. Rolled and welded pipe is made from sections of steel plate rods into cans. The seam of the can is welded and the individual cans are welded together to make the finished pipe. Spiral weld pipe is also manufactured from steel coil like ERW pipe but the difference is the coil is wound at an angle in a spiral weld pipe so that the weld runs around the outside of the pipe in the shape of the helix. ERW pipe is made by rolling metal and then heating the two edges with electricity to form a weld-down its length.
