Varieties of Champagne grapes

Generally, Champagne is made from three varieties of grapes comprising Pinot noir, Pinot Meunier Chardonnay. But a detectable amount of the other four Champagne grapes are also used. These are Pinot blanc, Pinot Gris, Arbane Petit Meslier.

Most of the Champagnes like Rose wine are made by blending the 3 prime grapes, Pinot noir, Pinot Meunier Chardonnay. Although Chardonnay is available at all restaurants, do you know it is just spread over 25000 acres? It is the least grown of the three. Pinot noir is planted widely over more than 32000 acres. Moreover, the grape variety Pinot Meunier, which balances the wine's overall texture, is spread over 26000 acres in the region.  

Blanc de Blancs is a Champagne that is fully made of Chardonnay. Furthermore, blanc de noirs are made from the other two varieties, Pinot noir Pinot Meunier, solely or by mixing both.
