Fleece can refer to a variety of teddy velvet fabrics. Most commonly, wool is associated with lightweight insulation made from a polyester, cotton blend, and/or other synthetic fibers called polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

Introduced in the late 1970s, wool is usually made from a variety of materials. The wool fabric is knitted and then brushed to loosen the fibers and create a fuzz (raised surface) for a soft, plush feel. Wool is often prized for its ultra-comfortable, lightweight and anti-perspirant properties - it evaporates water while reducing humidity.

 Fun fact: wool is also a vegan alternative to wool.

What is wool for?
Because of its lightness, warmth, insulation and versatility, wool is widely used in clothing - including sportswear, sweatshirts, sweatpants, jackets and trousers. Plus, its comfortable feel and soft plush make it an ideal fabric for bedding - including sheets, pillowcases and blankets.
