In celebration of Tom Brady's retirement and the recognition of his accomplishments on the field, EA increased his overall rating in Madden 22 to 99 per game. Brady is a two-time cover-athlete, first appearing in Madden NFL 18 and Madden 22 coins again on Madden NFL 22 (alongside Patrick Mahomes).

The second time in this season that Brady has been a part of the sought-after 99 Club. Although he started the season at a total of 97, he temporarily elevated from 97 to 99 by Week 4 following making an NFL record for all-time career passing yards in October. It only lasted for a week , however, and it was cut to 98 only a week later.

Although he has retired, Brady demonstrated this time around that he still has plenty on the table. At age 44, Brady defied father time, and put together one of his best performances in his career. Brady had 5,316 yards passing and scored 43 touchdowns. As it turns out, it wasn't age which played in Brady's decision, it was the desire of his to be able to enjoy more time with his family.

The rise to a 99 overall marks the end of an impressive Madden season for Brady and his teammates. Brady began his career with an initial rating of 57 in 2001. The future hall-of famer reached the 99 mark many times during his career which included Madden 09 Madden 12, Madden 18, Madden 19 and Madden 22.
